Founder of TidyNMB, Dr Johann Malherbe, shared the importance of collaborative action with, NMBM and NMU in ensuring that the Bay is clean.
Our team will be helping to clean up the iconic Donkin Reserve area, we will be cleaning roadsides, vergers and general tourism areas between 8 AM and 1PM.
We are blessed with some truly amazing sponsored, one of them being W Langson & Associates who proudly sponsored our team in our iconic green colours. We appreciate the hard work and support of all of our sponsors who make our tidying up initiatives really excel. Thank you.
Today we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the MANZI Water team at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre, and especially to owner Kyle Marshall. For almost two years, they have quietly and generously provided free drinking water to our TidyNMB workers every single day. It may seem like a simple gesture, but it is often these small, consistent acts of kindness that help movements grow, volunteers feel valued and communities thrive. MANZI has supported the TidyNMB movement almost from day one and continues to demonstrate what true community partnership looks like in practice. Kyle and his team are among those local businesses that genuinely believe in giving back and helping to build a better Nelson Mandela Bay. Thousands of litres of water and countless refills later, their generosity continues to make a real difference to the people helping to keep our metro cleaner, greener and more beautiful. Thank you, Kyle, and thank you to the entire MANZI team, for your kindness, generosity and unwavering support. We appreciate you more than you know. Water Giving Life. Community Giving Hope. #MANZIWater #TidyNMB
Today, Dr Malherbe had the privilege of joining a Mandela Day Tidy Readiness Meeting at City Hall as we intensified preparations for our upcoming Mandela Day activities and the launch of the Tidy City Campaign. Together with MMC for Public Health Babalwa Lobishe, Acting Executive Director Annalisa Dyakala, Adviser Gcinibandla Mtukela, Communications Public Relations Officer Robyn Rensburg, and other key stakeholders, we discussed how to mobilise businesses, community organisations, educational institutions, volunteers and residents for what we believe will become the largest clean-up initiative in Nelson Mandela Bay's history. The campaign will also officially launch the search for the Tidiest Neighbourhoods in Nelson Mandela Bay - an exciting initiative designed to inspire communities to take pride in their surroundings and work together to create cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods. In Dr Malherbe words, "As the founder of the Tidy NMB Movement, it is incredibly encouraging to see this vision gaining such strong support. By working together, I believe we can build a lasting culture of civic pride, reduce litter and illegal dumping, and help make Nelson Mandela Bay one of the cleanest and most welcoming cities in Africa."
